Countryside of Brisighella

Their masterpiece is the stronghold in Brisighella, built by the Manfredi and restored later in a Venetian way.
There are also many churches and parish churches - the first among them for antiquity and beauty is the Romanesque parish church of San Giovanni in Ottavo, also called Pieve Thò.

The medioeval village of Brisighella, at the foot of three hills, with the via degli Asini, the squares and the alleys, is a gem of grace and equilibrium, with a charm out of the ordinary.

The countryside near Brisighella is famous for the beauty of its landscape and is unanimously acknowledged as the most beautiful spot of Romagna. The valley of the river Lamone is surrounded by olive trees and grapevine on the hills and by orchard on the valley floor. It goes up to the Colla Pass (913 metres above sea level), and has been divided for more than six centuries into the part of Marradi, Toscana, and the part of Brisighella, Romagna.

This division of the valley of Lamone makes it unique, for Toscana and Romagna merge their landscape, architecture, cooking tradition, and in the people's character here. An incredible variety of almost intact landscape surrounds Brisighella, from the steep and dry one of the clay and of the ravine, to the gentle one of the valley foot and of the first hills, and to the karstic and wild one of the chalk vein. The series of strongholds, castles and towers, sometimes in ruins, sometimes well preserved, is also very varied.
